At a glance
In the laboratory, plastics such as PP, PS, PE, PC or PMMA are used depending on the application, because they are lightweight, break-resistant, chemical-resistant or sterilisable. The material choice follows the media, temperature and sterilisation method – Semadeni supplies everyday consumables (tubes and racks, pipette tips, filtration, Petri dishes and cell culture) as well as the matching sample vessels, containers and custom parts from stock or from its own production.

Typical set-up
For sampling and sample storage, laboratories combine autoclavable containers in polypropylene (PP) with tight-closing lids and a clearly writeable surface. Standard containers are available from stock; special shapes Semadeni produces in its own injection moulding in Ostermundigen.
In detail
Semadeni supplies research laboratories, universities, pharmaceutical companies and medical-technology facilities in Switzerland with plastic consumables. The range extends from sample vessels and bottles through measuring and dosing articles to storage and transport solutions – complemented by custom manufacturing from our own injection moulding and tool-making.
Daily requirements are fully covered: test tubes and sample tubes with matching racks and holders, microtubes, pipette tips and reagent reservoirs for liquid handling, syringe filters, filtration units and sieves for sample preparation as well as Petri dishes, test plates, culture flasks and cell strainers for cell culture and microbiology. Standard articles are available from stock and can be ordered in the web shop.
For sampling and handling, vessels in PP or PE are suitable depending on the medium and temperature: chemical-resistant, break-resistant and frequently autoclavable. Tightly sealing lids and writable surfaces secure clear assignment in everyday laboratory work.
Measuring cylinders, funnels as well as wash and dosing bottles support precise work. Transparent materials such as PMMA or PC allow good readability, while PP and PE articles are chosen for more aggressive media – we assess the suitability application-specifically.
Autoclavable PP articles can typically be processed at 121 °C; temperature, holding time and number of cycles are product-specific. Cleaning-friendly geometries and smooth surfaces ease hygiene in laboratory and cleanroom.
Depending on the application, PP, PE, PS, PC or PMMA are used. PP and PE are chemical-resistant and often autoclavable, PMMA and PC are transparent. The decisive factors for the choice are the media, temperature and sterilisation method of the specific application.
Many articles in PP can be autoclaved, typically at 121 °C / 20 min. Temperature, holding time and number of cycles are product-specific – we state the respective approval for the specific product. PS, PC and PMMA are generally not autoclavable.
Selected products are available in sterile versions (for example gamma- or EO-sterilised). The available sterile range depends on the article – contact us for the specific availability.
Yes. For most laboratory articles we supply technical data sheets on request and – for food contact – declarations of conformity according to EU 10/2011, each product- and batch-specific.
Yes. Alongside sample vessels and bottles we supply everyday consumables: test tubes and sample tubes with matching racks, microtubes, pipette tips and reagent reservoirs, syringe filters, filtration units and sieves as well as Petri dishes, test plates and culture flasks for cell culture and microbiology. How resistant is a plastic to a chemical? Semadeni's resistance list rates 26 plastics against individual substances at 20, 40 and 60 °C. This guide explains the classes a, b and c, shows values for common media and says where the list reaches its limits.
In the past few decades, plastic consumables have found their way into laboratories, making laboratory work safer and more efficient.
