What began in 1952 as a trading business is today an integrated manufacturer and distributor of plastic products – based in Ostermundigen, a Swiss family business and part of the Semadeni Industry Group.

Our history

From trading house to manufacturer

Over the decades, Semadeni has built its own manufacturing expertise: tool making, injection moulding, thermoforming and assembly. Today, standard products from stock and customer-specific parts are created under one roof – developed and produced in Ostermundigen.

Our history

Seven decades of plastics

  1. 1952

    Andrea Semadeni opens a trading business for plastic novelties in Bern – one of the first articles is a plastic acid pump.

  2. 1955

    Georges Semadeni, the founder's son, joins the company and drives its development.

  3. 1957

    Start of custom manufacturing in plastic apparatus engineering; the specialists are recruited in Germany.

  4. 1976

    Entry into plastic injection moulding with an in-house tool shop.

  5. 1996/2000

    First own site abroad in Vienna in 1996, followed by a presence in Germany in 2000.

  6. 2002

    50-year anniversary and generational handover: Georges Semadeni passes the company to Patrick Semadeni.

  7. 2015

    Logo-Plastic AG becomes a fully owned part of the group.

  8. 2017

    Expansion of the Königstein site with a new warehouse (around 3,800 m²).

  9. 2018

    Biplast AG in Sitterdorf becomes part of the group – it has produced PET and PE packaging for decades.

  10. 2019

    Semadeni AG takes over the business of Sem-Art AG – its display, presentation and decoration products join the range.

  11. 2020

    Succession arrangement: G&R Kunststoffe AG of Ostermundigen is acquired; staff and equipment move to Semadeni.

  12. 2021

    Start of a systematic climate programme – first greenhouse-gas inventory (scopes 1–3) and reduction targets per the GHG Protocol.

  13. 2022

    First Swiss industrial company admitted to the STI Directory (Swiss Triple Impact).

  14. 2024

    Certification to ISO 14001 – the international standard for environmental management.

  15. 2026

    EcoVadis Gold (top 5%) and signing of the UN Global Compact.
