What EcoVadis is – and what it is not
EcoVadis is an independent rating platform. Procurement departments use it to assess suppliers without having to audit them themselves. What is rated is submitted evidence and publicly available sources, not statements of intent.
For each theme EcoVadis examines six dimensions: policies, endorsements, actions, certifications, reporting and an external 360° review of public sources. The medal follows the percentile; Gold stands for the top 5%.
The rating is neither a certificate nor a property of individual articles. It assesses how Semadeni AG is run as a company. For products, the information given per article applies; for management systems, the ISO certificates.

What does “EcoVadis Gold” mean?
EcoVadis awards Gold to companies in the top 5% of all companies rated. With 84 out of 100 points, Semadeni AG sits in the 97th percentile.
Is EcoVadis a certificate?
No. EcoVadis is a third-party rating based on submitted evidence and public sources. A certificate such as ISO 14001, by contrast, results from an on-site audit by a certification body.
How long is the rating valid?
Twelve months from publication, i.e. from 2 June 2026 to 2 June 2027. Semadeni AG is then rated again.
Does the rating also cover products?
No. What is rated is the company, i.e. how Semadeni AG manages environment, labour, ethics and procurement. Properties of individual articles, such as material or recycled content, are documented per article.
