The starting point
Hospitals distinguish between two kinds of waste: ordinary waste comparable to municipal waste, and medical waste, which has to be collected and disposed of separately and under control. That calls for tear-resistant, liquid-tight and sealable containers; depending on the area of use, the pail also needs UN approval.
The solution
The right solution was found in our range of plastic containers. In the women's clinic in particular it matters that the pail is opaque, large and still light enough to be moved easily – and that once closed it cannot be reopened, or only with difficulty. We guarantee constant availability of the product from our warehouse in Ostermundigen as well as compliance with the legal requirements.
The outcome
The Hobbock pail has since been in use at Stadtspital Triemli in the most varied places: in pathology, in the nuclear medicine and radiation oncology laboratory, but also in the kitchen, in the emergency department and in the women's clinic. The container thus makes a substantial daily contribution to disposing of special waste.
What requirements must a container for medical waste meet?
It has to be tear-resistant, liquid-tight and sealable; depending on the area of use it also needs UN approval. In sensitive areas, opacity, low weight despite volume and a lid that is hard to reopen once closed are added requirements.
