The starting point
Not every project comes with the right saw, and nobody wants to buy a new machine for a handful of cuts. In mechanical engineering in particular, individual plastic components are often needed that will later be built into equipment. The rapid availability of material and of specialists to choose the right plastic for the purpose becomes a challenge – our customer was looking for a partner able to deliver quickly and easily even at short notice.
The solution
For over ten years we have supplied M. Bucher AG in Münchenbuchsee with cut-to-size sheets. We do not just cut plastic sheets, tubes and rods; we machine the material further – drilling holes, rounding corners, polishing or permanently engraving logos.
The outcome
The customer specialises in drying equipment for fruit, vegetables and herbs and uses the plastic sheets as the back panel of these drying cabinets. Plastic is the optimal solution here because the material has low thermal conductivity and is extremely dimensionally stable – properties that enable gentle and efficient drying.
