The starting point

The 270-year-old, recently renovated farmhouse in Herrenschwanden includes an annexe built in 1847. The pond had to fit into this established landscape and match the owners' personal wishes.

The solution

Our plastics machining department built the pond on behalf of Haas Gartenbau. The total surface is 32 m² (8 m × 4 m); what makes this pond special is its depth, sloping from 0.5 to 1 m.

Garden ponds are built from black or blue polyethylene sheets using a welding process. Because every pond is produced individually, a very wide range of shapes is possible; on request, remote-controlled lighting can be built in. The polyethylene sheets are UV-stabilised and weather-resistant. In Switzerland, Semadeni has built more than 600 ponds to date.

The outcome

The result is an individual plastic pond that fits perfectly into the landscape. The pond edge, barely visible anyway, could be integrated into the shoreline design, and the pond became the new home of several koi.

What remains is a personal oasis where the day can start with a lift and a long day can wind down.

The pond edge disappears into the shoreline – all that stays visible is the planted bank.

How is a made-to-measure garden pond in plastic built?

From black or blue polyethylene sheets using a welding process. Because every pond is produced individually, a very wide range of shapes is possible – here 32 m² with a depth sloping from 0.5 to 1 m. The sheets are UV-stabilised and weather-resistant.
