The majority of our printed matter is printed according to the Cradle to Cradle® principle. Cradle to Cradle means «from origin to origin» and is an approach to a continuous and consistent circular economy.
What does Cradle to Cradle mean in printing?
«From cradle to cradle»: inks and paper are chosen so that they return fully to the biological cycle. No waste is left that has to be landfilled or incinerated.
The majority of our printed materials are printed according to the Cradle to Cradle® principle. Cradle to Cradle means “from origin to origin” and is an approach for a continuous and consistent circular economy[1][2].
The principle is based on nature, because biological cycles leave no waste behind. Instead of always taking new raw materials for production, the Cradle to Cradle approach thinks in cycles and thus precious resources are not wasted but reused[3]. Only substances that can be safely returned to the biological cycle are used in printing. Cradle to Cradle is also called the supreme discipline of the circular economy[4].
