Energy-efficient machines – our contribution to climate protection and SDG 13

Consuming less, i.e. sufficiency, is an effective way to help protect the environment. Nevertheless, there are many goods that we still need. The goal is to produce them as sustainably as possible. Modern, energy-efficient machines and equipment help us to achieve this.

At our plant in Königstein/Saxony, plastic packaging is produced, of which a large proportion is already made from recycled materials. In the course of aligning our business with the UN's sustainable development goals (SDGs), new investments must meet ecological criteria. This means procuring only energy-efficient machines and equipment.

The most recent example is the ASB-12 machine, which produces containers from PET in a so-called one-step process. This machine has a clamping force of 137 kN, which is more than twice that of the older ASB-50 machine. The average energy consumption of the old machine was 16.48 kW, with the new machine it is only 14.21 kW – and with more than double the power.

We are successively renewing our machinery and replacing older systems with energy-efficient ones. At the same time, we are optimizing the articles to ensure they contain as little plastic as absolutely necessary. And wherever possible we process post-consumer recycled materials. These can be easily processed on the new ASB-12 line.

The new ASB-12 will start production at the Königstein plant imminently.
